The Mathura peda is believed to have originated in the city of Mathura, Uttar Pradesh. The peda was invented in the 1850’s. It is the main offering to God’s during festive and religious ceremonies. This peda is made with milk, ghee and sugar. The rich taste comes from slow cooking milk and letting it reach a fudge like stage.
